Though designed to last, it is recommended that you replace your VELUX roof window after 25 years. The standard sizes haven’t changed for 40 years so replacing your roof window like-for-like poses no problem. It is advised that a replacement flashing be used so as the new window fits snugly into the existing aperture for improved heat and sound insulation.
If you simply want to replace your existing glazing unit, there are a number of glazing options to substitute for your old pane. Double-check the existing window code which you’ll find on the metal strip on the top inner edge. Remember that VELUX sizes refer to the external frame size, not the glazing area.
You can also upgrade your existing manual VELUX roof window to electric or solar-powered operation using our conversion kits.
