This case study will centre on Tori's advancements, tracing her journey as she makes strides in her project. We plan to revisit this endeavour towards the year's end to gauge its completion or ongoing progress.

Choosing your dream home can be difficult, but we like to say it's like choosing a new pet, wedding dress, or car. You know once you know! Tori knew it was the one when she saw the house and it looked like the house her son would draw, when she told him they were moving. Tori said, “It looked like a house you would draw as a child. Double fronted Victorian, very symmetrical, and a cute garden path!”. However, the inside was another story. Tori humorously told us; “Inside was a different story, it looked like a boardroom or the inside of a P&O ferry”. But it did not stop Tori and Family from purchasing the home. The renovation was just a step, to achieve their dream family home.

“ The whole ground floor is being altered at the moment; it’s a 3-4 month job with every room being altered in some way from new walls, knocking down walls, creating new rooms, changing the stairs, a new kitchen. We’re living out of a temporary kitchen and 1/3rd of the living room, and then the upstairs.

On the first floor we’re having the bathroom refitted, and then on the second floor we have existing rooms in the eaves including a shower room. I think it’s original if i look at the other houses in the road, but again it needed complete overhaul to be useable rooms. Maybe a games room one side!” – Tori, Va Va Room.

Daylight Transforming Spaces.

Tori told us her family and her resides within a national park. So, adding a roof window to her home was important to add more daylight and fresh air into her home, whilst opening up her loft to panoramic views of the Forest across the road. We asked Tori how she likes the Keylite roof window, even though her project is not yet complete. Tori told us:

Has the roof window improved your home?

“The Keylite roof window we have added has brightened the room beyond recognition from when we first viewed. It has given me a fresh desire to decorate the spaces up on the second floor; i was going to leave it until the end but i wanted to do it first! We have had some eaves storage created so we can lose all the loft ‘junk’ in there rather than in one of the rooms, and then both rooms will be decorated - one a spare bedroom and the other will be a games room. We have two little boys!”

How was your experience with Keylite Installation?

“Fantastic, arrived quickly and the job was done within the day. After the opening was cut and framed by the joiners, the roofer installed the window in a few hours start to finish, just missing a torrential downpour! I was glad it was a quick process!”

Would you choose Keylite again?

“Absolutely, i love the window, the shape and size is perfect for the space as it gives a wide view of the trees rather than a portrait view. We live in a national park and across the road is open forest and ponies, so i look forward to clearer brighter days of being able to see them.”

Tori, so far. Has found the renovation good. When we asked Tori. How have you found renovating this home, being such a big project? Tori said, “ So far, so good! We had a temporary wall added to separate the back from front of the house which has trapped pretty much all the dust from the messy jobs of taking down walls and chimneys. We have a temporary kitchen in what was the playroom, and the builders also plumbed in a washing machine there, so we’ve been able to live relatively normally albeit a bit cold sometimes with massive holes in the house beyond the stud wall!”

We have loved seeing this project come to life, and we can’t wait to see this project complete. Tori will continue to work on the ground floor for the next 3-4 months. Then continuing the renovation into the upper floors. Where, we will get to see the loft come to life.
